In the 18 th century,due to the convenient water transportation,the rise of salt industry in Yangzhou led to the prosperity of all walks of life,which made the market extremely active.At that time,wealthy businessmen also vigorously set up cultural undertakings.In this context,it also attracted literati,calligraphers and painters from all over the country to Yangzhou.In order to adapt to the emerging market and the preferences of the citizen class,painters combined self-entertainment with entertainment in painting,which also made the painting style gradually secularized,and then made the concept of "painting as a profession is ugly" in traditional literati painting latent change.H ua yan as an important painter in yangzhou school,wellread,drawing content and changeful,poetry,calligraphy and good;H ua yan in the course of exploring its painting traditional literati paintings of the "elegant" and "common" in the folk secularization,the combination of warm flexibility,gradually formed its own ink content differences,composition Jian Yi risks,color bright,neutralization,art fit face painting style,unique in the yangzhou eight eccentrics painter,has the outstanding representative.This article through to the original meaning of the refined and vulgar,and the relation in the traditional painting,and then in h ua yan’s age background and painting development,on the basis of analysis of h ua yan,refined and vulgar in painting creation,in turn,induces the h ua yan in the traditional painting,and the inheritance and development of the ugly,the last of h ua yan painting was described for the later refined and vulgar,and the influence of personal creation inspiration to me.
