Traditional Chinese literature has always adhered to the principles of "using writing to convey morality" and "using poetry to express ideas," and literature that does not serve political education and does not conform to Confucian poetic traditions has been severely criticized.Under the influence of traditional Chinese literary concepts, satirical and humorous “Pai Xie Ci” literature has long been disregarded and excluded from mainstream literature. Therefore,“Pai Xie Ci” is not easily noticed by people.Of course, this situation has improved in recent years, and quite a few scholars have already noticed the comedic aspect of literature, and “Pai Xie Ci” has gradually entered the researcher’s field of vision.“Pai Xie Ci” is a part of the history of lyrics and even literary history. We should not ignore their value and significance simply because “Pai Xie Ci” is shallow, vulgar, and not very serious, and conflicts with Confucian orthodox literary ideals.Literary research should not only focus on the "elegant and refined" works but also on the "vulgar and popular" ones. The focus should be appropriately distributed to “Pai Xie Ci”.Observing “Pai Xie Ci” with a peaceful and objective mindset will help us approach the true face of the lyrics history in the Song Dynasty. This paper consists of five parts:In this literature review,we’ll be summarizing the writing situation of Chinese“Pai Xie” culture and literature,as well as exploring the current research results of Song Dynasty “Pai Xie Ci” in the academic community. We’ve established the scope of our research object, based on the relevant concepts of Yang Chunqiu and Wang Yi.This includes both Ci that create humorous effects through the renovation of their forms,as well as Ci that have humorous and humorous characteristics in terms of content and emotions. The first chapter briefly outlines the dynamic process of the evolution of the Song Dynasties.“Pai Xie Ci” Four different aesthetic forms of Ci,represented by Chen Ya,Cao Zu and Liu Yong,Su Shi,and Xin Qiji, are selected to analyze their humor in detail. It can be seen that after the Northern Song Dynasty entered the Southern Song Dynasty, the aesthetic form also changed from humor to satire. In the second chapter,we explore the ascent and decline of “Pai Xie Ci” during the Song Dynasty, focusing on the differentiation between refinement and crudeness. We investigate the impact of the trend of sophisticated Ci style on the development of“Pai Xie Ci” and scrutinize the contrast between elegance and vulgarity apparent in both literati “Pai Xie Ci” and anonymous “Pai Xie Ci”.Chapter Three reveals the ideological origin and stylistic significance of “Pai Xie Ci” in the Song Dynasty. The ideological origin lies in the inheritance and continuation of our ancient “Pai You” tradition and the Zen Buddhism of the Song Dynasty. The stylistic significance mainly has three aspects: first, the close relationship between Song Dynasty “Pai Xie Ci” and Song Dynasty Zaju drama;second, the influence of the "speaking" art on “Pai Xie Ci”;third, the inspiring effect of Song Dynasty “Pai Xie Ci”on Yuan Dynasty Sanqu lyrics.
