A Classification And Periodization Study Of The Tower-shaped Rock Paintings In Chindu County

Tower-shaped rock paintings are stone step-like tower-shaped images carved on rocks.As most of these images resemble tower buildings,they are referred to as Tower-shaped rock paintings in the field of rock art.Tower-shaped rock paintings are mainly distributed in Tibet,Qinghai,Ningxia,and Gansu.Among them,Chindu County in Qinghai Province,located in the eastern part of the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau,has the largest number and the most diverse types of Tower-shaped rock paintings.The Tower-shaped rock paintings sites in Chindu County are mainly distributed along the Tongtian River basin and are mainly located on small cliffs or large rocks.Currently,there is relatively little academic research on Tower-shaped rock paintings,especially on their overall classification and systematic periodization.Based on field investigations and image analysis,this paper systematically classifies and periodizes Tower-shaped rock paintings in Chindu County,and analyzes the factors that have contributed to their development and evolution by reviewing relevant literature.Chapter 1 elaborates on the historical and cultural background of the Chindu County region,providing a geographical and historical context for the Tower-shaped rock paintings.Chapter 2 presents the first-hand data collected through field investigations of Tower-shaped rock paintings in Chindu County.Based on the latest survey data,the paper organizes,depicts,and analyzes the specific locations,sizes,forms,techniques,and carving traces of the Tower-shaped rock paintings.By analyzing the images,the Tower-shaped rock paintings images are classified,which lays the foundation for the periodization of rock paintings.Chapter 3 combines traditional chronological methods with the specific features of Tower-shaped rock paintings images and local historical and cultural developments,taking into account factors such as the production techniques,carving traces,layering relationships,and the combination of Tower-shaped rock paintings with other rock paintings.By using both literature and images as evidence,this chapter provides a preliminary judgment of the different types of Tower-shaped rock paintings and their approximate age,as well as analyzes the development and evolution factors of the Tower-shaped rock paintings images.
