Research On Image Modelling Of Rock-paintings By Boren In Gongxian

Rock-paintings by Boren in Gongxiancounty,first found by David Crockett Graham,a Chinese-American scholar in 1935,is one of the typical examples in southwest of China,even in the whole country.Rock-paintings and hanging-coffins are both the remains of Boren,which are the main form of their funeral custom.And the rock-paintings is painted for the owner of hanging-coffin,both are indispensable.Rock-paintings by Boren roughly include two parts: single-class image modelling and composite-class image modelling.It is made up of figures,animals and geometric symbols,of which the subject and content has a characteristic of stylization.The image is mainly colored by red,white color is also used as a complementary color.The plane silhouette modelling,combining with part of the line outline or line and surface combined modelling,composite the modelling techniques,which develop a succinct,completed-structure,rich-dynamic and portrait image modelling,also have the characteristics of representational and abstract description simultaneously.Rock-paintings image modelling by Boren not only has artistic and aesthetic characteristics on formal level,but also features like hieroglyphic characters on the functional level,to some extent,which voicelessly tells the memory,belief and culture of the died-out nation as a role of “text”.There is no word except the hanging-coffin and rock-painting image modelling.The rock-painting is an important “text image”,collecting image and text as an organic whole,using the image to tell.This paper firstly discuss “Boren”,“rock-painting image modelling by Boren” and “hang-coffin by Boren”.And then explore the styling features,moral and technique of rock-painting image modelling by Boren according to the history background.At last but not the least,some questions related to the research onrock-paintings image modelling by Boren,the similarities between the Poya Music of Songs in Fu’ning and Dongba Symbols by Naxi nations are discussed.The rock-paintings by Boren are images fulling of historic significance,national character and funeral culture attribute.Based on the fine arts,the paper analyzes the shapes and connotations of the images of the Boren’s rock paintings in Gongxian from the perspectives of imagology and narratology,so as to reveal the image narrative attributes and pictographic characteristics of the transitional forms between images and texts.
