| In the context of globalization,national image has become an important aspect of evaluating a country’s overall national strength,and media coverage is a powerful means of shaping a country’s image.With the continuous improvement of China’s comprehensive strength,more and more intangible cultural heritage(hereinafter referred to as "intangible cultural heritage")in China are known to foreign audiences.The People’s Daily(Overseas Edition)has a wide audience and a large circulation,therefore,it is of great significance to study the forms in which the "intangible cultural heritage" coverage constructs China’s national image.This study first systematically reviews and summarizes previous studies on framework theory,China’s national image,and "intangible cultural heritage" reporting,clarifying the concept and connotation of "China’s national image.".Secondly,data analysis was conducted on the content of "intangible cultural heritage" reports in the People’s Daily(overseas edition)in the past four years,and 231 relevant reports were collected.Based on the framework theory of Professor Tibetan Guoren,this paper analyzes the reports from macro,meso,and micro frameworks,and constructs a category to propose a theoretical research framework for China’s national image in the "intangible cultural heritage" reports of People’s Daily(overseas edition).At the same time,the "Intangible Cultural Heritage" report of the People’s Daily(Overseas Edition)has constructed many typical national images of China,combining research methods such as data statistics and content analysis to explore the construction of the national image of China from the five dimensions of culture,education,society,economy,and technology.Based on the macro,meso,and micro frameworks,this study draws the following conclusions: First,the reports on "intangible cultural heritage" in People’s Daily(Overseas Edition)are rich in cultural connotations,and the national spirit and values are interlinked.Therefore,it presents a cultural image with rich connotations of "intangible cultural heritage" and interlinked national spirit.Secondly,"intangible cultural heritage" can be combined with school education,allowing the inheritance of traditional national skills,and building an educational image of "intangible cultural heritage" entering the campus to inherit traditional skills;Thirdly,with the development of cities,society has become more harmonious and stable,and people’s lifestyles have become increasingly diverse,exhibiting a social image of colorful urban development and rich people’s lives.Fourth,combining cultural creativity with handicrafts has helped revitalize rural areas.Holding traditional festivals and "intangible cultural heritage" activities has stimulated economic growth,thus creating an economic image of cultural creativity leading to prosperity and festivals promoting development.Fifth,the development of science and technology has provided more forms of expression for "intangible cultural heritage".Using Internet technology,"intangible cultural heritage" will achieve long-term development,presenting a scientific and technological image of emitting vitality from the cloud and independent technological innovation.This study explores the issue of China’s national image in the People’s Daily(Overseas Edition),a comprehensive Chinese language daily for China’s opening up to the outside world,which is conducive to displaying a true and specific national image of China to international audiences,reducing negative reports and interpretations of China’s national image by foreign media,and providing new insights into the research on the construction of China’s national image by domestic media establishing a national image can serve as a reference. |
