With the continuous development of multimodal discourse analysis theory,multimodal teaching mode has emerged and been applied to Chinese teaching.Multimodal teaching advocates the use of auditory,visual and other modes to cooperate with each other in teaching.Body language is one of the main modes of multi-modal and an important part of teachers’ language.Therefore,teachers’ body language plays an important role in Chinese teaching,especially in primary Chinese teaching where there are great differences between teachers and students.Teachers’ body language can assist vocal language to eliminate communication barriers,make up for the lack of vocal language expression,and then improve teaching effect.With the development of electronic information technology and the influence of COVID-19 epidemic,the form of Chinese teaching has changed from traditional face-to-face classroom teaching to online teaching.In online teaching,the body language of international Chinese teachers still has an important influence on Chinese teaching.Therefore,it is very necessary to conduct in-depth research.According to the theory of multimodal discourse analysis and the related theories of body language,this paper investigates the current situation of the application of teachers’ body language in online primary Chinese teaching by means of questionnaires,interviews between teachers and students,and classroom observation,and finds that the application of teachers’ body language in online primary Chinese teaching is still not satisfactory.For example,many teachers themselves don’t know enough about the importance of body language application;Although some teachers have a certain understanding of the application of body language,their application ability of body language needs to be improved;Compared with offline teaching,online teaching has many limitations in applying body language,which leads to the unique characteristics of online teaching teachers’ body language application and so on.Therefore,it is necessary for us to improve the level of teachers’ body language application in online primary Chinese teaching.In view of the problems and shortcomings found in the investigation and study,under the guidance of multimodal discourse analysis and body language related theories,in order to improve the level of teachers’ body language application in online primary Chinese teaching,the author thinks that both international Chinese education circles and international Chinese teachers themselves should raise their awareness of the importance of teachers’ body language application in online primary Chinese teaching.Specifically,the education management department should organize corresponding lectures and training,build an excellent case base for learning,and so on.Teachers themselves should also enhance their awareness of body language application and improve their body language by combining the unique characteristics of online teaching. |
