Understanding the belief of Bodhisattvas in Northern Zhou Dynasty and the types of Bodhisattvas in Dunhuang murals in Northern Zhou Dynasty is an important prerequisite for the study of bodhisattvas in Northern Zhou Dynasty.The formation of Bodhisattvas in Dunhuang murals in the Northern Zhou Dynasty was influenced by many factors.First of all,the painting style of the Western regions since the Northern Liang Dynasty is the basis of the Bodhisattva in the Dunhuang murals of the Northern Zhou Dynasty.Secondly,in the Western Wei Dynasty,the Central Plains painting style in the Mogao Grottoes of Dunhuang had an important influence on the development of bodhisattva shape in the Dunhuang murals of the Northern Zhou Dynasty.In the Dunhuang murals of Northern Zhou Dynasty,the line,color and form structure of Bodhisattva form are the main elements of Bodhisattva form.Throughout the Northern Zhou Dynasty,the form of Bodhisattva in Dunhuang murals not only reflects the blend of Chinese and Western forms,but also the characteristics of exaggeration and deformation,symbolization,freehand,decoration and stylization of forms.In the Northern Zhou Dynasty,Dunhuang murals were mainly manifested in the style of the western regions,but the powerful Central Plains culture infused them with the matrix of development.From the perspective of the development of the whole Chinese traditional art history,Dunhuang murals in the Northern Zhou Dynasty are still an important part of the traditional art.Dunhuang murals in this period absorbed enough excellent cultural characteristics of the western regions,and integrated the painting tradition of the Central Plains since Wei and Jin dynasties,which laid a strong foundation for the localization of Dunhuang murals in the Tang Dynasty,and also had a subtle influence on the traditional painting of the Sui and Tang Dynasties.At the same time,it also had a certain degree of influence on the development of modern and contemporary Chinese painting.This paper systematically analyzes and studies the Bodhisattva modeling of Northern Zhou Dynasty by means of the research method of image records and the research form analysis and comparison method of art history,and probes into the influence of traditional painting and the inspiration of contemporary painting creation.
