Research On The Ecology Of Parole Landscape In Wuhan Historical And Cultural Block

Focusing on Wuhan historical and cultural block,the paper combines field research and quantitative analysis methods to examine the outdoor parole landscapes of Wuhan historical and cultural block.Based on the theories of place semiotics,speech act theory and linguistic eco-ethics,the paper depicts the state of the parole landscape from the perspective of language ecology,analyses and summarizes the linguistic features and commonalities of different types of parole landscapes,and provides linguistic eco-ethical countermeasures to improve the language ecology of Wuhan historical and cultural block and help shape the image of Wuhan as an international civilized city.The survey found that the following characteristics are common to the parole landscapes ecology of Wuhan historical and cultural block: the language is rich,and the speech sequence symbols consist of Chinese characters,English,Russian,French,Japanese,Korean,numbers,pinyin,punctuation marks and other linguistic symbols,as well as non-linguistic symbols such as images and colors;the language patterns include monolingual,bilingual and multilingual patterns,with a significantly higher proportion of monolingual Chinese and bilingual ChineseEnglish patterns;Chinese is the dominant language due to its mother tongue,and English is a strong foreign language.The paper examines the linguistic ecology of typical parole landscapes,such as street names,historical building signs,outdoor slogans,warning signs and shop names,from the perspectives of both intra-linguistic and extra-linguistic ecosystems.The research reveals that street names are mainly trisyllabic,with a significant information and instructional function;historical building signs,the main carriers of historical building information,have an obvious information function,with a typical scenario placement,but the absence of foreign language information is particularly serious;outdoor slogans have a rich number of syllables,with obvious syntactic structures such as subject-verb,verb-object and union,and the language is condensed,with a propaganda and edification function;warning signs,with prominent visual symbolic features.The names of shops,with a wide range of different languages and symbols,are mainly in the positive structure,and rhetorical strategies such as harmonic puns,parody and exaggeration are commonly used.The ecological nature of the exo-ecological system is characterized by the interaction between the verbal landscape and the natural,social and cultural environment in which it is located.The paper explores the underlying causes of the failure in the speech landscape of Wuhan historical and cultural block from three perspectives: government administration,community(subgroup)psychology and individual linguistic ability.Finally,in order to build a harmonious language ecological environment and promote the high-quality development of the urban linguistic landscape,the author proposes three countermeasures: to improve the responsibilities of government departments and improve the management mechanism of the language ecology;to stimulate the moral character of the community and do a good job in regulating the language of the city;and to enhance the consciousness and motivation of individuals to practise the ethical awareness of the language ecology.
