Study Of Historical Blocks In The Perspective Of Linguistic Landscape

The historical block is the display card of the urban history and culture,and the "re-historicize" of the historical blocks can show the historical culture of the city and create the image of the characteristic city.Linguistic landscape is one of the important media to realize the " re-historicize " of historical blocks.The linguistic landscape is a new field of social linguistics research in recent years,which pays attention to the research on public space from the perspective of multilingualism and code form.Based on the previous research results,we found that the study of linguistic landscape of historical blocks is not sufficient.So through the dimension of time and space,we reveal the spatial and temporal properties of linguistic landscape of historical blocks.We selected linguistic landscape of Hangzhou Qinghefang historical blocks to analyze,finding that the linguistic landscape of historic district has the continuity of time axis and the difference on the spatial axis.The linguistic landscape of historical block has the historical timeline continuity.By tracing the morphological characteristics of the linguistic landscape in the historical process,we find that the linguistic landscape of Qinghefang keeps the characteristics of traditional signs and traditional culture.The main features are as follows: Firstly,the linguistic landscape is unique in its Chinese characters through the use of written forms,the traditional Chinese characters,the writing order of vertical lines and left-hand lines.Secondly,the linguistic landscape employs the time domain vocabulary to create the historical context of the historical blocks,applies the places domain vocabulary to express the social customs and cultures of other information,and utilizes the cultural domain symbol to achieve the historical blocks of “re-historicize." Thirdly,with the traditional brand which contains long history and culture,the historical blocks could create a historical context in order to achieve purpose of the historic block“re-historicize”.There are spatial differences between the historical blocks of the linguistic landscape and ordinary commercial districts of the linguistic landscape.With the comparison between Qinghefang and Hangzhou general commercial districts,we can see that: First,the differences between the historical blocks and the ordinary commercial blocks in terms of the types of code,code presentation,code placement andso on.Second,if some of the signs of the historic blocks are placed in the ordinary commercial district,their forms will change.The above differences further highlight the historical features of the linguistic landscape.The linguistic landscape uses the Chinese character culture and custom culture in order to make the historic block realize " re-historicize ",then has brought some external effects.In view of the problems existing in the historical blocks' linguistic landscape,we put forward a series of suggestions,through the improvement and regulation of language landscape problems to promote the further development of historical block "re-historicize".
