A Study Of Interrogative Sentences In The Pingyao Dialect Of Shanxi

Based on the 1384 corpus of interrogative questions in the Pingyao dialect collected by the fieldwork,this paper studies the interrogative questions of the Pingyao dialect from the perspectives of form,pragmatics and function.Firstly,the general interrogative questions of Pingyao dialect are divided into five types: Interrogative tone questions,interrogative mood questions,Wh-questions,the VP-neg-VP questions and alternative questions.Secondly,from the perspective of pragmatics,five special questions are analyzed,including rhetorical questions,echo questions,tag questions,hypophora questions,and "敢" VP questions.Finally,according to the functional distribution,the interrogative questions of Pingyao dialect are divided into questions and rhetorical questions for study.The article consists of three parts: prolegomenon,main text and conclusion.Chapter I: Prolegomenon.Firstly,the significance of interrogative questions in grammar research,the grammar research of Shanxi dialect,the current situation and shortcomings of interrogative question research,and the status of Pingyao dialect as a representative point of Jin language are stated.Secondly,the research results and research status of the category of Chinese "question" and the interrogative questions of Chinese dialect and Shanxi dialect are reviewed.Next,the research methods and corpus sources of this paper are introduced.Finally,the human geography and dialect of Pingyao are presented.Chapter 2: Types of interrogative questions in the Pingyao dialect.Firstly,the interrogative questions in Pingyao dialect are divided into five types from the formal means of expressing interrogative information: interrogative tone questions,interrogative mood questions,Wh-questions,the VP-neg-VP questions and alternative questions.Secondly,each type of interrogative question is descriptive and analyzed from the formal level,semantic level and the level of interrogative pronouns involved.Finally,the relationship between the focus of the question and the answer of the interrogative question is also explained.Chapter 3: Special interrogative questions in the Pingyao dialect.In this part,five special questions are discussed: rhetorical questions,echo questions,tag questions,hypophora questions,and " 敢 " VP questions.After a basic analysis of its formal characteristics,the text focus on analyzing its grammatical characteristics from the pragmatic perspective.Finally,the answer of the interrogative question in Pingyao dialect is analyzed,too.Chapter 4: Functional distribution of interrogative questions in Pingyao dialect.The quantitative analysis method is used to analyze the functional distribution of various interrogative sentences in Pingyao dialect.Finally,the question and the rhetorical question in the interrogative question of the Pingyao dialect are determined.
