Research On "Words Have Meanings And Reasons" In "Xu Shu Duan"

"Xu Shu Duan" is the last book monograph in the history of calligraphy after Yu Jianwu’s "Shu Pin",Li Sizhen’s "Shu Hou Pin",and Zhang Huaiguan’s "Shu Duan"."Words have meanings and reasons" is one of the core concepts of "Xu Shu Duan",but it has always been misunderstood by the academic circle.This article intends to correct this absurdity and restore its old status.The first chapter of this article discusses the version and collation of "Xu Shu Duan"."Xu Shu Duan" is included in "Mochi Bian",so its version is closely related to the version of "Mochi Bian".Regarding the version issue of "Mochi Bian",some details have never been mentioned before,and this is the first time the author has mentioned them,such as: the time issue of the preface of Xueben;the issue of the original version selection of Yuanben and Jinben;the issues of Marketing of Qing Printed Editions and the Discourse Power of Editions,and so on.Secondly,according to the status quo of the edition of "Xu Shu Duan",consider the suitable collation method of "Xu Shu Duan".However,because the value of the edition of "Xu Shu Duan" is unsatisfactory,for the collation of "Xu Shu Duan",the author intends to use the Qing Yongzheng Baoyanshanfang edition "Mochi Bian" with the reference number 15920 of the "National Library" of China as the base version,and compare it with the National library call number 10654,Ming Longqing second year(1568)Xue Chen collated 20-volume continuation three volumes edition(referred to as"Xueben"),Taiwan National Library call number 307.2 06667 Ming Wanli Li Shicheng collated six-volume edition(referred to as "Li Ben"),Wenyuange Sikuquanshu edition(abbreviated as "Yuanben"),Wenjinge Sikuquanshu edition(abbreviated as "Jinben"),and the Ming Hengyezhou Cottage manuscript in Fudan University edition(referred to as "Ming manuscript" ")to reconcile and collate,and retain the status quo of the text of the various editions of "Xu Shu Duan",appended at the end.Finally,make a postscript of the collation to record the thoughts and feelings in the process of collation of "Xu Shu Duan".The second chapter discusses the connotation of the concept of "words have meanings and reasons" and the reasons for emphasizing "words have meanings and reasons".Through textual research on important concepts such as "Yi Li","Shi" and "Li Gu Ding",we can grasp the connotation of "words have meaning" in "Xu Shu Duan" and correct the predecessors’ wrong understanding of "words have meanings and reasons".At the same time,by combing the text of "Xu Shu Duan",we explore the reason why Zhu Changwen emphasized that "words have meanings and reasons".The third chapter discusses the enlightenment of "words have meanings and reasons" to calligraphy practice,including the enlightenment of learning methods,and the direct reflection of the author’s learning and perception of the concept of "words have meanings and reasons"through Yan Shu in copying and creation.
