A Study Of Li Guang’s Articles

After the Jingkang Rebellion,the history of the Song Dynasty shifted from the Northern Song Dynasty to the Southern Song Dynasty.The upheaval of the times left the Nandu court in ruins,which also generated a strong realistic and political demand for literature,and even led to a turning point in the fate of the literati and officialdom who lived in it.Li Guang(1078-1159)served successively in the Huizong,Qinzong,and Gaozong dynasties.From Yueyang County Lieutenant to Prime Minister,he experienced the Zen of Hui Clan,the Jingkang Incident,the party ban in Shaoxing,and the dictatorship of Qin Hui.Li Guang participated fully and directly in the political construction of the Nandu period,and even wrote a legendary chapter of upholding Xuancheng,exercising power for the people,and being exiled overseas but able to return to the north.His articles clearly records a series of themes in political literature during this period,such as patriotic chapters to relieve worries and anger during turmoil,and brilliant articles to participate in political discussions during the construction period.Under the political persecution of the Prime Minister of Power,he can alleviate his emotions by visiting landscapes.The main body of this article is divided into five chapters,mainly including the following aspects:The first chapter discusses Li Guang’s life experience,analyzes his political character and life attitude through studying the legendary typical events in his life,and highlights his character of loyalty first,integrity in politics,love for the people,and strong optimism.The second chapter analyzes the creative characteristics of Li Guang’s memorials.The memorial embodies Li Guang’s political propositions: attaching importance to war affairs and armaments;Rectify financial affairs and cherish the people;Pay attention to supervising officials and impeach treacherous officials and villains.Correspondingly to the theme of the content,Li Guang’s memorial presents a literary style of truthful pointing out,being as plain as stone,investigating and eliminating evil,and being as vigorous as wind.The third chapter studies the articles of Lingnan period.Influenced by the party ban,Li Guang spent 15 years in Lingnan.He waited for hope calmly and patiently,and finally succeeded in getting out of the dilemma.His articles express his inner contradictions and tensions,but they often overcome negativity and highlight his optimistic and open-minded personality.Compared with the articles on political participation and political discussion,the attitude and vision of creation in this period changed from focusing on major political event to expressing contradictory attitudes and daily life,presenting a literary style full of deep feelings and rich and varied attitudes.The fourth chapter reviews Li Guang’s literary propositions combined with the trend of thought of the times,and summarizes the ideas embodied in his writing,namely,the text should be based on Taoism,respect and learn from Su Shi,and have a reserved learning attitude towards Jiangxi Poetry School.The fifth chapter analyzes the political and literary ecology of the Nandu period.From Li Guang’s perspective,we can observe the common political and literary attitudes of the four famous officials of the Southern Song Dynasty,and expand our observation of the political and literary ecology of the Southern Capital period through the four famous officials of the Southern Song Dynasty.Study people’s creative practices under major political themes,and analyze the spiritual core of loyalty behind them.
