| With the continuous development of China’s economy and mining technology, the mining cooperation between China and foreign countries has become more and more frequent. The export trade of mining equipment has been expanding, and the number of overseas mining construction has been increasing. In order to better promote the exchange of mineral technology, equipment exports, and the development of overseas mining industry, the translation of mining equipment manuals is particularly important. In the 1970s,the functionalist translation theory emerged in Germany, and the purpose theory was put forward by Katharina Reiss, whose student Hans Vermeer broke through the restrictions of the equivalence theory and developed and created the translation Skopos theory based on the behavior theory.According to this theory, translation is a purposeful and consequential act based on the original text, which must be completed through negotiation.Translation must follow a series of rules,of which the Skopos rule comes first. In other words, the translation depends on the purpose of the translation. The Skopos theory has three main rules:Skopos rule, coherence rule and fidelity rule. This report selects the instructions of CMSW6(A)mining intrinsically safe anchor rod and anchor cable non-destructive testing instrument and its technical regulations, and translates the source text into English under the guidance of the Skopos theory.Guided by the three rules of of Skopos theory and following the ideas of the translation Skopos theory, this report explored and solved the problems encountered in the translation process from three aspects:lexical, syntactical and textual levels, and proposes the translation methods.Through this translation practice and the writing of the translation practice report, the translator has learned relevant professional knowledge and improved translation level. The Chinese-English practice of technical equipment instructions guided by Skopos Theory has great guiding significance and reference value for the future translation of scientific and technological texts. |
