| With the acceleration of industrialization,a large number of chemical products provide convenience for production and life.However,they also bring more and more emerging pollutants,which pose great risks to the ecological environment and human health.As an environmental academic work,Emerging Pollutant Treatment in Wastewater can help people improve their understanding of emerging pollutants.Therefore,the translation practice has certain practical significance and application value.In chapters 8-9 of the book,the author focuses on microplastics and nanomaterials.These two kinds of emerging pollutants are widely used in our daily life and are easy to arouse the thinking and resonance of public readers.That’s why the practice report aims at chapters 8-9.The source text is characterized by a large amount of implicit information.Based on this feature,the report tries to discuss feasible solutions under the guidance of relevance theory from two levels: vocabulary and sentence.For polysemous words with rich meanings,the solution is to choose the right words to express;for covert lexical co-occurrence,choose amplification as solution;for abstract nouns with deep and broad semantic domains,the solution is to use concretization;for words in the specific context,extension is adopted as solution;for sentences with default logical markers,the solution is to add connective words;for complex clauses with implicit logic,inversion is adopted;for negative structures with positive connotations,choose negation as solution.The above translation methods are used to reproduce the implicit information of the original text and improve the accuracy and readability of the translation.Through the writing of this translation practice report,a deeper understanding of environmental pollutants and a further study of translation theory has been achieved.It is hoped that the translation theory and methods summarized in this report can provide reference for future translation in relevant field. |
