The Research Of Rich Class In Jin Dynasty

The rich class was an important constituent part of Jin Dynasty society,which played an indispensable role in economic,social and cultural life.The life style and economic activities of the rich in Jin Dynasty were mostly inherited from the predecessors in Northern Song Dynasty.However,influenced by multiple factors such as new national policies,new situation of social development and foreign jurchen culture.The actions and roles of rich in politics,economy and culture had also changed and formed their own unique roads.In terms of family,the size of rich’s family in Jin Dynasty was generally small.The number of small size family was more than that of large.The case of family separation was common,and the reason of separation is related to internal and external economic factors.From the perspective of education,with the establishment and development of the imperial examination system in Jin Dynasty,the rich were particularly enthusiastic about the education of their children,and the main goal of the education of them was to train talents for the imperial examination.In order to cultivate talents for the imperial examination,the rich people adopted various means,including inviting knowledgeable teachers,spending money on study and building schools.In terms of belief,rich class generally had multiple and utilitarian beliefs,and actively gave to the realization of personal wishes.On social relief,in addition to playing a role through cooperation with the government,the rich’s own independent relief activities were also numerous,and tend to ordinary state.In terms of law,rich class exercised certain judicial effect by participating in social mediation and cases as a supplement to the official judicial system.In cases involving rich,there were both those who interfered with the judicial system by bribing officials and those who were falsely accused and imprisoned,proving that wealth does not mean inevitable strength.On politicis,this thesis focuses on the discussion of three special ways to rich people into official career,and three reasons of them not to enter the official career.This thesis analyzes the ambivalence of the rich group in the aspect of joining the official,and its corresponding actions.On economic,it analyzed the means of rich people,including agriculture,commerce,lending,sanitation,medicine,animal husbandry,and so on.Among them,the contradiction between Menganmouke system and rich was the focus of agriculture economic.The occupation of land by Menganmouke households harmed the land interests of rich,which had a profound impact on the land economy and even the ethnic contradictions of Jin Dynasty.
