| Guy Debord(1931-1994)was a key figure in the shift of Western Marxism towards postmodern Marxism.Debord, through rethinking the production of capitalist society, declared that contemporary capitalist society has developed from a production stage to a unique spectacle stage. It is worth noting that Debord began his critical thinking of spectacle society through movies and ended his critical theory with movies.Faced with the display of one-way spectacle,Debord used movies as a weapon and fiercely criticized today’s society where "symbols are better than physical objects, replicas are better than original, appearances are better than reality, and phenomena are better than essence",which sparked a "war" between movies and spectacle. In his more than thirty years of film career,Debord has created six films, ranging from radical image rebellions to being engulfed in flames.Debord’s ideas have always focused on spectacle society and the survival status of people in spectacle society. All film scenes have been diverted from existing news, advertisements, documentaries, covering war, games, cities, and daily life scenes. On the basis of a classification study of Debord’s film works, this article mainly revolves around four chapters, focusing on elucidating the ideological connotation of Debord’s film view. The article first traces the background and theoretical origins of Debord’s film view, clarifying the generation mechanism of his film view;Secondly, the article will conduct a theoretical analysis of Debord’s six film works in the form of classification research;Once again, this article will focus on the three dimensions of "film practice","film essence",and "film criticism",and combine Debord’s film creation to deeply explore the main content of his film view; Finally, the article aims to explore the enlightening significance and shortcomings of Debord’s film view, with a focus on analyzing the enlightening significance and value that Debord’s film view brings to current society. |
