A Construction Grammar Approach To The Hierarchical Interaction Study On "lian Xp Dou/ye Vp”

Modern Chinese construction “Lian XP dou/ye VP” is a grammatical structure that combines morphological syntax,semantics and pragmatic functions.It is also the difficulty and hotspot of modern Chinese research.“Lian XP dou/ye VP” construction can express certain constructional meaning.It is a form-meaning pairing and a representative construction in modern Chinese.Nowadays,related researches on “Lian XP dou/ye VP” present two drawbacks: the first is those researches ignore the integrality of the whole construction while only explore the construction representation within the single hierarchy.The second is contemporary researches mostly insist on abstract-semantics outlook and ignore its polysemy study(Hu Ya,2018).Although many scholars have made related researches from syntactic,semantic,pragmatic and foreign Chinese teaching dimension,the discussing focuses are quite fixed and hardly involve systematic and comprehensive exploration on its internal and external hierarchical interaction.Based on previous related researches,this thesis aims to study the hierarchical interaction of “Lian XP dou/ye VP” construction systematically and comprehensively according to the Hierarchy and Interaction View of Construction Grammar.Construction Grammar is a process in which it regards language communication as stepping-point of the construction and using of constructional knowledge.Construction is an abstract unit of sign.And interaction is the basic mechanism of construction’s generation and operation.Therefore,the Hierarchy and Interaction View of Construction Grammar can provide a relatively new perspective for “Lian XP dou/ye VP” construction research.This thesis aims to put forward and answer three questions as follows:(1)What kind of internal and external hierarchical interaction processes that “Lian XP dou/ye VP” construction presents and what are mechanisms and motivations of its interaction respectively?(2)What are Constructionalization processes and its related mechanisms and motivations of “Lian XP dou/ye VP” construction?(3)During the macro social interaction,what kind of interaction features that “Lian XP dou/ye VP” present?With the help of literature research method,qualitative and quantitative research method,case study research method as well as introspection research method,this study mainly makes related discussion through four aspects as follows.Firstly,observe and classify the language samples collected from Modern Chinese Corpus and figure out form and meaning representation of “Lian XP dou/ye VP” construction.Secondly,on the basis of considerable language samples of “Lian XP dou/ye VP” construction,this study aims to analyze its internal and external hierarchical interaction processes respectively.Then,this study will discuss the mechanisms and motivations for its internal and external hierarchical interaction respectively.At last,during macro social interaction discourse,this study will explain the function of counter-expectation expression of “Lian XP dou/ye VP” construction.The discussion of internal hierarchical interaction is mainly based on its macro hierarchy,meso hierarchy and micro hierarchy.As for external hierarchical interaction,this study mainly discusses it from the perspective of syntactic nodes,semantic nodes as well as pragmatic nodes.According to related analysis,there are four conclusions of this study:Firstly,“Lian XP dou/ye VP” construction is a relatively high productive construction.Its internal hierarchical interaction mainly the interaction between macroconstruction,meso-construction and micro-construction,as well as the interaction between construction and construct.And its external hierarchical interaction is mainly the interaction of syntactic nodes,semantic nodes and pragmatic nodes on the hierarchy itself.Secondly,The mechanisms of internal hierarchical interaction of“Lian XP dou/ye VP”construction are the Inheritance relations and Fusion relations for construction hierarchy.Thirdly,external hierarchical interaction of “Lian XP dou/ye VP”construction involves its Constructionalization process.According to analysis,the mechanisms of its external hierarchical interaction are Neo-analysis and Analyzation,and its motivations are Cognitive Context as well as Construction Entrenchment.Finally,in social communication interaction,“Lian XP dou/ye VP” sentences usually act as background information or foreground information and reveal speaker’s cognition position,evaluation position and emotion position,then it can express counter-expectation meaning.
