In 2016,President Xi emphasized that ideological and political education should be integrated throughout the whole process of education and teaching,and the main channel of classroom teaching should be used.Curriculum standards for compulsory education(2022)mentions that curriculum ideology and politics should be enhanced and the orientation to educate people should be strengthened,so teachers focus on strengthening curriculum ideological and political education in the process of education and teaching.In addition,reading materials in English contain rich ideological and politics elements,which provides a convenient way to educate people in English curriculum ideology and politics,and reading teaching is an indispensable part in English teaching,which is an important way to cultivate students’ English core literacy.Reading character,as an implicit part,needs to be improved.Therefore,this study focuses on the following two research questions:1.What effects does the curriculum ideological and political education into English reading teaching have on junior high school students’ English reading character?2.How is curriculum ideological and political education into English reading teaching implemented to improve junior high school students’ English reading character?This study adopts two rounds of action research,based on curriculum ideological and political theory and dialogue theory,so as to adjust teaching contents and change teaching methods as the path.This study takes 36 junior high school students as the research participants,who come from class 801.Before the teaching action,the author made clear of students’ English reading character through a questionnaire combined with interviews.Then,an eight-week teaching action was carried out.After that,students’ English reading character was tested again through the same questionnaire and two interviews.Through data analysis,the following conclusions are drawn:(1)In the reading experience,students’ reading interest and reading attitude have been obviously improved,but the self-evaluation has not changed obviously.In reading habits,students’ reading frequency has increased significantly,but their reading strategies and reading quantity have changed slightly.It’s found that curriculum ideological and political education into English reading teaching has made some progress.Generally speaking,students’ reading habits and reading experience have been improved in some aspects,which will inevitably promote the development of English core literacy.(2).The implementation of ideological and political teaching in reading teaching should allow students to dig out the ideological and political elements of texts,skillfully use various teaching methods to establish a positive teaching environment for students,and refine the evaluation of ideological and political teaching,so as to better promote the development of reading character.In the teaching of ideological and political reading,teachers guide students to read initially,understand the article from the surface to the inside,from the superficial to the deep,dig into the ideological elements and educational value meaning between the lines,for the sake of fulfilling the mastery of language knowledge,the cultivation of language skills and the guidance of educational value. |
