A Study On The Chief Of Qinfenglu And His Subordinates In The Northern Song Dynasty

Qinfeng Road,as the northwest border of the Northern Song Dynasty,was one of the military roads established during the reign of Emperor Renzong.Its geographical position is important,bordering on Tibetan tribes in the west and Xixia in the northwest.Qinfeng Road was set up because of the border affairs.As the first-class administrative unit of the Northern Song Dynasty,its chief executive took charge of a series of affairs in this area,such as military affairs and civil affairs.Since the establishment of the system,it has been stable until the demise of the Northern Song Dynasty.Qin Fenglu made great contributions to the defense of Xixia in the early stage,to the border extension in the late Northern Song Dynasty,and to the civil administration of this road.As clerks in the government,Shuai Si’s subordinates were mostly elected by Jing Si’s appeasement.Many Qin Feng’s subordinates carried out the orders of Jing Si’s appeasement,which pushed the policies of Jing Si’s appeasement and even the imperial court to the grassroots level.This paper includes four chapters: The first chapter discusses the establishment of Qin Fengshuai’s road from the perspective of institutional evolution,and the transformation from the deployment of the capital to the system of managing the peace envoys,and makes a statistical arrangement of the previous managing the peace envoys from the Jingyou period to the demise of the Northern Song Dynasty.In the second chapter,by combing the historical materials,from the perspective of the comparison of the four roads,the author makes a thorough and detailed discussion on the official names of the subordinates under Qin Fenglu’s running Anfu envoy.The third chapter,combined with specific examples,discusses the classification of Qin Fenglu’s affairs from the perspective of ability,position and other affairs,including Qin Fenglu’s military actions and social activities,as well as his rights as a military and political chief.The fourth chapter tries to evaluate Qin Fenglu’s efforts in resisting Xixia,carrying out the policy of controlling martial arts with literature and frontier defense suggestions,in order to try to form a regular understanding.
