Since ancient times, the exploration of love has been an eternal and relevant topic to humanity itself. As one of the most original French philosophers of the 20 th century,Alain Badiou believes that the rapid development of modernization has obscured the true essence of love, and in order to rediscover the essence of love,it is necessary to start with love as an event and contemplate the special relationship between love and truth.Badiou’s philosophy is based on mathematical ontology, and key concepts such as event, truth, and subject are intertwined with it.love is the most important topic of them.In Badiou’s view, the identity of the lover is one of the connotations of the philosopher’s identity.Just as Socrates’ thirst for truth was expressed in "Symposium",the love of philosophy is the love of pursuing truth. This article revolves around Badiou’s unique concept of love constructed on his philosophy of events, and on the epistemological basis of his understanding of love’s thoughts. From the perspectives of love as an event and love as a truth procedure,it analyzes how this emotional force of love, under the philosophical thinking of Badiou, becomes a generic procedure leading to difference truth. The introduction explains the theoretical background of exploring Badiou’s love philosophy.Based on the review of the current research status of Badiou’s love philosophy at home and abroad,it clarifies and defines the two core concepts of "Love" and "Truth" involved in this article.Chapter 1 elaborates on the epistemological basis of Badiou’s love philosophy from two aspects: the exploration of the problem of love in the history of philosophy and Badiou’s philosophical ontology. There are many philosophers who have explored the problem of love in the history of philosophy, and as the two people who have had the greatest impact on Badiou’s love philosophy, this article focuses on discussing Plato and Lacan’s love theories in psychoanalysis. In addition,Badiou’s unique philosophy of events and mathematical ontology is the theoretical basis for understanding his love philosophy.Chapter 2 analyzes the event structure, elements, and desire issues that love possesses as an event around the concept of events. In Badiou’s view, love is a true event, and it has the form of the mathematical set. Therefore,to realize love in the situation,it not only requires the love at first sight of both parties, but also requires faithful actions that the subject strives for.Chapter 3 mainly explores how love as an event becomes a generic procedure, and the power of love to generate truth.Love has the transcendent power to break the unity of the "One" and establish new existence. When someone declares "I love you",it is an effort to fix a chance encounter on an eternal scale, and truth emerges in this process.Chapter 4 expounds the enlightenment of Badiou’s thought of love from three aspects: theory, methodology and reality. In the discussion of Badiou’s thought of love,we can find that the words such as truth, difference and risk are the key words for us to understand love, and through these keywords and the reflection of various love phenomena in the modern times,we can grasp the theme of love. The conclusion part summarizes the main content of each part according to the order of the article, and makes a general summary and grasp of the topic of the article. The close relationship between love and truth lies in the fact that love can expand the individual’s perspective and experience, and realize the truth of differences. As one of the four premises of philosophy,in Badiou’s writing, love is no longer limited to the fields of theology and daily life, but as a transformative emotional force,it provides us with a guiding role towards truth.
