Abstract/Summary:
Taking the Session Ⅰ and Session Ⅴ of the 18thMeeting of APEC Ocean and Fisheries Working Group(OFWG)-Virtual Meeting held on February 14-15,2022 as the interpreting materials, this report used Effort Models proposed by Professor Daniel Gile for consecutive interpreting as the theoretical framework. After the interpreting, the author sorted out excellent and problematic sentences, analyzed the listening&analysis effort,note-taking effort,short-term memory effort, and coordination effort during consecutive interpreting, summarized experience and proposed corresponding solutions,so as to point out the direction for the future interpreting study. This paper is divided into five chapters.Chapter One is a brief introduction to the simulated consecutive interpreting.Chapter Two introduces the process of interpreting in terms of preparations, implementation, and post-interpreting.Chapter Three presents the theoretical framework and analysis of each stage of Gile’s Effort Models and gives a comprehensive overview of the current status of academic research at home and abroad.Chapter Four relies on the theoretical framework to conduct case analysis of the target language under reasonable and unreasonable effort distribution before proposing corresponding strategies.Chapter Five reviews the whole simulated interpreting, introduces the guiding significance of Gile’s Effort Models to consecutive interpreting, and offers the future direction for interpreting practice.Through this interpreting, the author has conceived a more precise roadmap for the interpreting study:firstly, fully complete the preparation and accumulate the encyclopedic knowledge;secondly, consolidate bilingual knowledge and improve comprehension and expression;thirdly, actively participate in interpreting and sharpen the skills. It is hoped that the interpreting can provide some reference for ocean and fisheries research, and the strategies mentioned in the report can be helpful for other interpreters.
