As China continuously strengthens cooperation with other countries in infrastructure construction,it took part in infrastructure construction works of other countries actively and has provided technical support for other developing countries in this field. The Expressway from Wengyuan County to Xinfeng County in Shaoguan City(Shaoxin Expressway)is a key infrastructure project contracted by China Tiesiju Civil Engineering Group(CTCE Group). The author was entrusted by the Materials Industry & Trade Co.,Ltd.of CTCE Group to translate the “Report of Expressway from Wengyuan County to Xinfeng County in Shaoguan City”.The purpose of the translation practice is to introduce Shaoxin Expressway. To be specific, the translation practice aims to convey original content integrally and accurately and meanwhile,to enhance the readability of the translation so as to achieve the goal of technical exchange and sharing. The purpose of the research is to find out the methods and strategies of C-E translation of highway engineering text in order to provide some reference for future translation of this type of text. Therefore, the author, given the features of original text, chooses Three Rules of Skopos Theory by Hans J.Vermeer as the guiding theory of the translation practice. The author discusses the methods and strategies of C-E translation of highway engineering text from the perspective of Skopos Rule,Coherence Rule and Fidelity Rule, and summarizes the experience from translation practice with the research methods, including sampling, comparing and inducting. It is found that under the guidance of Skopos Rule, translators could determine purposes of the translation practice and choose appropriate translation methods and strategies according to translation purposes. The Coherence Rule guides translators to adopt specific translation methods in order to manifest logical relationships between clauses.Besides, the transformation from dynamic to static as well as the transformation from personal perspective to object perspective can be realized so as to improve the readability and coherence of the translation. In accordance with the Fidelity Rule, translators are suggested to be faithful to the original text. When it is impossible for translators to be faithful to the original in both form and content, they are advised to free from the original form and make appropriate amplifications and deletions so as to be faithful to the original content. In conclusion,Three Rules of Skopos Theory can provide useful guidance for C-E translation of highway engineering text.Under the guidance of Skopos Theory, translators can choose appropriate translation methods and strategies in order to be faithful to the original content and to improve the coherence of the translation. However, the research simply discusses the C-E translation of highway engineering text on linguistic level. Therefore, further research covering more levels is needed in order to offer more widely applicable suggestions for translation of this type of text.
