A Study Of Filial Piety In Zeng Zi In Da Dai Li Ji

There are ten volumes in the book of rites by Dai De,volume four and volume five,all of which are named "Zeng Zi".Among them,"Zeng Zi Ben Xiao","Zeng Zi Li Xiao","Zeng Zi Da Xiao","Zeng Zi Shi parents" and other chapters focus on the concept of filial piety.The discussion of these chapters was carried out under the background of the time when filial piety was generally valued in the Pre-Qin society,and various schools,especially the Confucianists,began to discuss filial piety one after another.It not only enriched the culture of filial piety of the Pre-Qin Confucianists,but also has its own characteristics in the theories of the Confucianists.It is a document that we should not ignore in the study of ancient filial piety today.Filial piety can be understood from two perspectives.First,filial piety is defined as the foundation of all virtues,which originates from the true feelings of the heart and has all kinds of functions;Secondly,the specific connotation of filial piety is discussed in various articles.Filial piety is considered to be a matter of parents,which includes raising parents,respecting parents,remonstrating parents,being careful to pursue the future,and valuing the whole body.Filial piety differs greatly,moderately and slightly according to people’s moral level and filial piety ability.Zeng Zi’s filial piety thoughts inherited from Confucius and inspired the thought of Mencius.They played an important role in the process of inheriting and changing the filial piety ideas of Confucianism in the Pre-Qin period,and also inspired people to recognize the meaning of life and harmonious social relations.
