In the civilization history of the five thousand years of the Chinese nation,the thought of filial piety has always been in the core position.It is so-called that " filial piety is the first in one hundred virtues ".Filial piety is the starting point of all good deeds,the most basic moral accomplishment,the purest emotion of human beings,and an important strategy for governing the country in the traditional society.The Classic of Filial Piety,one of "Thirteen Classics" of Confucianism,is an important study book on filial piety.Although the length is short,it has the most profound influence on traditional culture,life ethics and social politics.In the process of historical inheritance,filial piety has exerted a sustained and extensive influence on every social and historical period.The Classic of Filial Piety not only pays attention to the interpretation of "filial piety",but also contains rich humanistic value,so it has important research value.This paper takes "filial piety classics" as the core and studies the thought of filial piety to dig out its reasonable core,aiming to carry forward the excellent traditional Chinese culture and help the construction of spiritual civilization and harmonious society.Firstly,through some books Shang Shu,Book of Songs,Zuo Zhuan,and The Analects of Confucius and such like,the paper explores the source of the theory of filial piety.Secondly,the paper demonstrates the content of the theory of filial piety and point out filial piety as the basis of virtues and politics education.Thirdly,the paper describes common filial deeds in The Classic of Filial Piety from three dimensions:treating kings,treating families,and conducting oneself.Fourthly,the paper analyses Mencius and Xuncius’ s thought for development of filial piety.Finally,the filial piety thought is demonstrated dialectically,highlighting its view of "foolish filial piety is not filial piety,foolish loyalty is not loyalty",and affirming on the premise that the filial piety thought of filial piety still has certain theoretical value and practical significance in contemporary times.
