In recent years,with the development of global economic integration,more and more Chinese enterprises have stepped out of China to participate in the international competition.In this process,the translation quality of enterprise publicity materials plays an important role in building the enterprises’ images and promoting international cooperation.So far,the translation of enterprise publicity materials has attracted the attention and discussion of scholars and experts,and has formed a certain research scale,which has greatly promoted the development of the research on the translation of enterprise publicity materials.This translation practice report is based on the C-E translation of enterprise publicity materials.The key and difficult points are how to convey the original information to the greatest extent and how to attract the target readers’ attention,making them understand and accept it.Due to the cultural differences between China and the West,the translation of enterprise publicity materials should take full account of the differences between their cultural background and understanding and be close to the language habits of target readers.Only by making the target readers fully understand the translated text,can the translation of enterprise publicity materials achieve the necessary publicity and communication effects.Guided by Newmark’s semantic translation and communicative translation strategies,the author carries out the case study from the perspective of lexical and syntactic aspects,adopting a variety of translation methods.At the lexical level,the author takes Internet terms,network neologisms and culture-loaded words as examples,using literal and free translation methods to deal with the translation of vocabulary;at the syntactic level,the author deals with subjects,long sentences and advertising information by adopting the methods of subject adding or changing,word order adjustment and segmentation and reorganization of sentences to make the translation conform to the expectation of target readers.The author finds that it has strong applicability to use semantic translation and communicative translation strategies to guide the translation of enterprise publicity materials.With the semantic translation strategy,the accurate transmission of original information in the translated text is guaranteed,while the communicative translation strategy takes into account the readability and acceptability of the target text.It is hoped that the report can make a practical contribution to the translation of corporate publicity materials,and help enterprises to expand international cooperation.
