| Along with the fast development of social media,social media has gradually become one of the mainstream marketing tools and social media marketing has been widely used in business practice.Satellite Marketing: Using Social Media to Create Engagement is a book about social media marketing strategies,in which its author Kevin Popovi? discusses the nature of social media from various perspectives,demonstrates the advantages and disadvantages of using social media marketing in business practice,and proposes relevant strategies about how to do marketing.This translation report is based on the translation of the third and fourth chapters of the book.This report consists of five chapters,including the introduction to the translation task,the description of the whole translation process,the literature review,the case analysis,and the conclusion.The author enumerates the difficulties she met in the translation process.Under the guidance of communicative translation theory,the author explores feasible translation methods and skills from three levels: the lexical level,the syntactic level,and the discourse level.Specific translation examples at these levels are given to demonstrate the strategies.On the lexical level,the original text contains many nouns including comparative words and proper nouns.Aiming to make these words more understandable to the targeted readers,the author uses transliteration,annotation,and conversion methods.On the sentence level,there are many attributive clauses,object clauses and adverbial clauses.Translation methods such as diversion and readjusting sentence order are adopted to promote the smoothness and fluency of the sentences,and make them conform to the language expression habits of the target language.On the discourse level,the author mainly promotes cohesion and coherence within and between sentences by two methods: conjunction and amplification. |
