With the fast launch of the 5G network,6G becomes a hot topic for academic and business sectors. However, only several pieces of research are found and attached when it comes to 6G at home until today. Therefore, the translator chooses this kind of source text as the translation material and hopes this report can be useful for others to acquire the latest information on 6G in the future. The book Shaping Future 6G Networks: Needs,Impacts and Technologies,is a holistic snapshot of the evolution of 5G technologies toward 6G.From the perspective of Katharina Reiss’ s text typology theory, this report selects the second part of this book as the translation material, exploring the specific translation methods applied to English for Science and Technology(EST).According to Reiss, texts can be divided into three kinds: the informative text, the expressive text, and the operative text. The material used in this translation practice is EST and the content is centered on 6G.Thus,it belongs to the informative text. When translating the informative text,Reiss regards that the translator should completely transmit the information. To convey the original text accurately and clearly, the translator applies different methods to solve translation problems in the process. From the lexical level, the translator notices that technical terms, prepositions, and abbreviations are extensively used in the source text.Hence, the translator chooses to use professional online dictionaries or parallel texts to assure the information is delivered precisely. From the sentence level, passive voice sentences, nominalized structures, and long and complicated sentences are frequently adopted. Therefore, the translator turns the passive voice into the active voice or just maintains the passive voice to handle the difficulties caused by passive voice sentences. For these nominalized structures, the translator changes the structure of the sentence or the part of speech. To deal with the translation of long and complicated sentences,“division” is adopted to ensure the information in the source text is reproduced in the target text. Finally, from the textual level, since the language of information text is logical, plain, and explicit, cohesion and coherence of text translation are discussed to polish the target text again from a whole perspective.
