With the continuous and rapid development of social economy in China,people’s quality of life is improving.They pay more and more attention to their own health and diet safety.Therefore,food nutrition and safety have become a major concern of people at present.The source text,Agriculture for Improved Nutrition: Seizing the Momentum,dedicates to solving agricultural food and nutrition problems.This book contains a large number of authoritative research reports and research data.Therefore,the text is meritorious for solving food nutrition safety problems and is worth learning.The translator selects the third to fifth chapters of the book for translation,adopts Nida’s functional equivalence approach to guide the translation practice,and refers to Lian Shuneng’s Contrastive Studies of English and Chinese to analyze the translation.The translation practice report is divided into four sections,including description of the translation project,translation process,case analysis and conclusion.Case analysis is the core chapter of the report.In this chapter,the translator,under the guidance of functional equivalence approach,strives to find solutions to the key points and difficulties encountered in the translation process.At the lexical level,the translator adopts annotation,conversion of word classes and other processing methods;At the level of sentence pattern,the translator adopts such methods as division,adjustment,conversion of passive voice,etc.,to make the translation smooth and natural and conform to the expression mode of the target language on the basis of ensuring the information expression of the source text.Through this translation practice,the translator not only has a further understanding of the translation strategies and methods of agricultural texts,but also gains knowledge of food safety and other agriculture-related information.The translator hopes that this report can provide some referential value for translators who are interested in this field,offer some useful information and make some tiny contributions to solving the problem of food nutrition and safety in China.
