The translated text in this practice report is from the Gutenberg Translation Project on the Internet.The text is related to the food category and reflects well the professional characteristics of the author’s university.This report uses the CEA framework(Comprehension,Expression,Adaptation)proposed by Li Chuangshuan to analyze the translation of The Chemistry of Food and Nutrition(Excerpts),which introduces the chemical composition and analysis of food and nutrition.This report is divided into six chapters.The first chapter is the introduction,including the background,significance,aim and objectives of this translation practice.The second chapter is the project description,including the description of the text information and analysis of the key content of the report.Chapter three,the translation process,introduces the preparation before translation,the preparation of translation tools in the process of translation and quality control after translation.The fourth chapter is the introduction of the framework,explaining the connotation of CEA framework.The fifth chapter is a case study,which analyzes the typical errors in the author’s translation according to the three major categories of comprehension,expression and adaptation and how to correct them according to the CEA framework.The sixth chapter is the conclusion,which summarizes and reflects on the difficulties encountered in practice.This translation practice proved that the CEA framework is indeed applicable and practical in guiding food translation practice.The amended translations are faithful,smooth and significantly better than the initial translations.The framework is indeed helpful to translators in analyzing and solving various problems encountered in the translation of non-literary informational texts,and provides a reference for future translations of similar problems in non-literary informational texts.In addition,this translation practice report is also of some practical value for people in related industries to read and understand the professional knowledge related to non-literary informational texts.It also allows the author himself to discover his own shortcomings,such as the lack of proper comprehension of grammatical structures,the lack of professional knowledge,the lack of extensive knowledge,the lack of bilingual writing ability,and the lack of the critical thinking,all of which point out the direction for the author’s future efforts. |
