| The term meme in memetics used in this paper was first proposed by Richard Dawkins,a famous evolutionary biologist and animal behaviorist at Oxford University,in the last chapter of The Selfish Gene in 1976.In this book,Dawkins would put forward a new view for the properties of evolution.Think of the evolutionary drive as the result of competition between replicators,and the winner is the one who makes more copies.These replicators are not limited to organisms.For example,culture also evolves through competition between replicators.Such replicators that make culture evolve are memes,which is the theory of cultural evolution.It can be seen that the scope of meme is very wide,and anything transmitted through imitation can be regarded as a meme.Language is the carrier of culture,and as a tool for people to communicate,there are processes of imitation,replication and transmission,so language also belongs to meme.In order to achieve a good expression and communication effect,the linguistic meme usually plays a role in the title language of network news,so the linguistic meme exists in the language.With the rapid development of today’s network,people put more and more energy on the network,network news has become a big source of information for people to get,people first contact with network news headlines before reading network news,it is necessary to observe the language of network news headlines.This paper the first part is the observation of the online news title language usage.I collected 622 network news headlines from the People Net,Tencent and other websites.I find that the length limit of network news headlines language within a certain range,the words are more use of monosyllabic verb,will use the Internet buzzwords,new build proper nouns,and contractions.In syntax,in addition to the subject,predicate and object elements,there are also subject and quantifier omission,the use of colons or spaces to form the title language,or the use of questions as a special sentence type.In this paper,the second part clarifies the relationship between language and memes,explore the network news headlines of the causes of the formation of linguistic memes in language,including the external causes and internal causes.The external causes in the title language include background events,people’s demand,and the role of Internet media.The internal causes of the linguistic memes itself include economical efficiency and capacity to produce,fashion ability and practicability.In addition,these linguistic memes can spread in two ways,one is genotype transmission,the other is phenotype transmission.The third part of this paper is the understanding of linguistic memes in network news headlines.People rely on relevance theory to make various inferences through context,and finally achieve the best correlation with the default context of linguistic memes,so as to realize the understanding of linguistic memes.The fourth part of this paper is to make network news headlines with strong linguistic memes,which is actually to combine with different memes to achieve good communication effects.These strong linguistic memes include rhetoric,idioms and proverbs,network buzzwords and colloquial expressions,and discuss why they are strong linguistic memes and their impact on the language of network news headlines.With these strong linguistic memes,the title language of network news becomes vivid and can attract people’s attention,making it easier for network news language to spread on the network.The full text combines the specific examples of the network news title language,so that people have a more intuitive understanding of the network news title language. |
