The Influence Of Hindu Nationalism On Indian Foreign Policy

The rise of Hindu nationalism serves not only as the continuation and climax of the politicization process of Hinduism,but also the latest achievement of the socialization process of Hinduism.Currently,driven by the religious politicization and socialization of the Modi government and the Bharatiya Janata Party(BJP),Hindu nationalism has prevailed again.In the diplomatic field,the BJP and the Rashtriya Swayamasevak Sangh(RSS)have achieved “dual-track” cooperation at the levels of senior government and civil society,committed to turning India into a respectable image of sufficient strength and cultural superiority.Taking the chronological order,this paper explores and analyzes the politicization process of Hindu nationalism from a marginal position to the center,analyzes how Indian society accepts a series of propositions and ideas of Hindu nationalism to realize their identity,and explores the factors and causal mechanisms affecting India’s foreign relations from a domestic perspective.All India’s foreign policy choices focus on the realization of great power status,taking the firm regional great power status as the starting point.Indian diplomacy has taken on distinct characteristics of Hindu nationalism,and India is placing greater emphasis on the role of power politics and the universality of Hindu culture to propel itself to truly rank among the world’s great powers.
