| Agamben’s reflections on the biopolitics are concentrated in the Homo Sacer series. After an all-encompassing examination of the separation and capture of life from the Western political,Agamben offers an affirmative solution for the redemption of life, which does not point to any particular class or political struggle but is without organization and ends, directing only towards life itself-‘form-of-life’.From-of-life is the logical starting point of Agamben’s reflection on the biopolitics and the philosophical goal that he tries to break down the operation of the politics.From-oflife is a life different from the object of ‘thanatopolitics’ in the western politics, although Agamben does not combine it with the realistic struggle,it has a positive political meaning which means that not only make the biopolitical machine malfunction by potential inaction, but also points to the coming community and happy life.Confronting that life is constantly getting bare in the contemporary western politics,Agamben’s form-of-life is undoubtedly full of positive significance when we think about the potentiality of life. But Agamben demands not to put the potentiality into reality, which can not become a realistic action plan after all.Agamben’s political theory is not a politics of ‘doing’ but a politics of ‘thinking’,which is not to teach people to act but contemplation. |
