Research On Agamben’s Potentiality Of Literature And Art

Giorgio Agamben’s "biopolitics" theory established his position and prestige in the academic world,but in fact,Agamben’s academic starting point was thinking about literary aesthetics.As one of the representatives of the New Left in the West,Agamben and Western Marxist ideas are largely homologous.He proposed that natural life is limited by form and purpose,and becomes naked under the violence of power.Only literature and art have the possibility of redemption,saving the individual from the squeeze of history.Agamben’s "potential" theory accurately grasps the current individual’s survival plight,and his literary and artistic potential plays a suspended function under the modern "concentration camp".This article takes the literary and artistic potential theory that has not attracted the attention of the academic circle as the research object.From the broad sense of the "potential" theory as the starting point of interpretation,the content of the thesis is divided into two major levels: one is to explore the core content of potential theory,the other is to analyze Agamben’s literary potential.This article discusses in detail from the following four parts:The first part mainly introduces the core connotation of Agamben’s "potential" theory.First,analyze the philosophical origin of Agamben,and clarify Agamben’s rediscovery on the basis of Aristotle’s "potential" thought.Secondly,it focuses on explaining the practical basis of Agamben’s potentialities.The second part focuses on the development of Agamben’s "potential" theory.Agamben’s interpretation of "potential" does not stop at the philosophical level.At the same time,his theory extends to the social age and literature and art,from philosophical thinking to literary discrimination.The third part analyzes Agamben’s theory of literary potential dilemma.This part is the academic background of Agamben’s theory.He put forward three major denials of the development of literary aesthetics,the objective formalist aesthetics represented by Kant,and the volitional aesthetics represented by Nietzsche,as well as Benjamin’s mechanical reproduction of the contemporary artistic conception.The fourth part explains Agamben’s theory of redemption.Faced with the predicament of the development of literature and art,Agamben proposed a unique understanding of literature and art.Although Agamben’s "potential" theory answered the question of the age of what role literature and art should play under the barriers of biopolitics,he eventually fell into the illusion of religious theology,and his thoughts also appeared to be poor in construction.To deal with its "potential" theory,we need a cautious and reflective attitude.
