A Report On The E-C News Translation Practice At China Daily Based On CEA Framework

With the proliferation of global information,translation plays an increasingly vital role in the dissemination of news.It is now an integral component of the work of news agencies.In the autumn of 2022,the author had the honor of participating in a news translation internship project launched by China Daily under the support of BUPT.During the internship,the author translated 16 English news articles covering current political and economic events.This report summarizes the difficulties encountered by the author during translation and revision and attempts to classify them under the guidance of the "Comprehension,Expression and Adaptation"(CEA)framework.Several translation cases and the process of solving the problems are analyzed and presented.This report is composed of five chapters.The first chapter introduces the China Daily internship project,news translation features,as well as the objective and structure of this practice report.The second chapter describes the entire translation process,including pre-translation preparation,during-translation implementation,and posttranslation revision.In the third chapter,the theoretical framework is introduced.In the fourth chapter,the author’s notable difficulties with comprehension,expression,and adaptation are analyzed;The fifth chapter reviews the whole translation practice and summarizes the author’s major findings and limitations discovered through the practice.It also provides recommendations for enhancing news translation skills in order to become a qualified news translator.
