| The rhythm of movement and stillness is prevalent in Chinese and Western paintings, and its forms are actually very specific, such as the use of composition, the matching of colours, the handling of space, the reality of brush strokes, the light and shade, etc.,all of which can be understood as the visual rhythm of movement and stillness. This paper seeks to take the relationship between movement and stillness as the starting point for an in-depth study of the laws contained in oil painting at the levels of movement and stillness and spiritual direction,so as to achieve the purpose of guiding the author’s oil painting practice, and to borrow the principle of ’visual perception’ from modern western art psychology to assist in the study of the rhythmical performance of movement and stillness in the creation of oil painting figures. It is divided into two parts:theoretical research and practical creation.Through the combing of relevant aesthetic theories and art history, and the analysis and research of classic oil painting figures,we summarise that the ’movement and stillness’in oil painting originates from the visual perception brought by the tendency of tension patterns in the picture,as well as the static beauty of movement in stillness, the dynamic beauty of subtle gestures, the dynamic beauty of stroboscopic photography, the fascinating imaginative beauty and other expressions of ’movement and stillness’ in oil painting,In this way,we can explore the relationship between the formal language of movement and stillness in the creation of oil figures and the complementary relationship between thematic content and imagery expression. In terms of the formal language of the painting, the rhythm of form, colour and texture form the dynamic form of the painting.Through the above research as a theoretical basis, the series of ordinary heroes is created in practice, and the rhythmic beauty of movement and stillness in creation and the imagery conveyed under the form of movement and stillness are presented through the combination of movement and stillness, and the expression of movement and stillness,to create oil paintings of figures with the spirit of the times. |
