As a new way of trade in the 21st century, cultural trade is an important part of international trade. And institutional culture plays a crucial role in cultural trade development because perfect institutional culture is conducive to promoting the rapid development of international cultural trade. The book On Cultural Trade Development is a report on the key project of the Capital Foreign Cultural Trade Research Base, which belongs to the informative text with the theme of cultural trade. On the premise of defining and classifying the concept of institutional culture, the sixth chapter of this book focuses on the influence of institutional culture on cultural trade, indicating that institutional culture plays an important role in the generation and development of cultural trade. This report selects Section 2,Chapter6“The Influence of Institutional Culture on Cultural Trade”as the source text of this translation practice. The contents mainly include a historical review of the influence of institutional culture on cultural trade and the ways of institutional culture influencing cultural trade development.Toury’s Translation Norms Theory includes three types of norms:initial norms, preliminary norms, and operational norms.Based on this theory, the report mainly discusses how initial and operational norms guide the translation practice, and discusses the connection between these two groups of norms during the translation process.Under the guidance of the initial norms, the overall translation tends to the acceptability, and the meaning of the original text can be reproduced to the greatest extent to enhance the readability of the translation;partial translation tends to the adequacy, and the translator retains the language and cultural characteristics of the source text to realize the dissemination of culture;partial translation combines adequacy and acceptability, achieving the spread of foreign cultures and ensuring the readability of the translation by transliteration with annotation and literal translation with annotation.Under the guidance of the operational norms, based on the matricial norms, the methods of amplification, omission, division, and inversion are used to supplement the hidden information, delete the redundancy contents, divide the complex long sentences and change the position or order of sentences;based on the textual-linguistic norms, transformation is adopted to convert the part of speech and the voice from Chinese to English according to the expression habits of the target readers.Initial norms and operational norms are two groups of norms based on different levels. However, they are not completely independent, but influence mutually. On the whole,Toury’s Translation Norms Theory can be applied to guide the translation of the text with the cultural trade theme, which can not only retain the cultural characteristics of the source text, promoting the spread of the source language culture, but also make the translation close to the expression of the target language, enhancing the readability of the translation. To some extent, this report can broaden the application of Toury’s Translation Norms Theory in translation practice. At the same time,it has certain references for the translation of this kind of text in the future.
