| National Administration of Traditional Chinese Medicine(TCM)stated in the Development Plan for Promoting the High-quality Integration of Traditional Chinese Medicine into “the Belt and Road Initiative”(2021-2025)that it is necessary to improve the construction of the TCM in countries along the “the Belt and Road Initiative”.The development of the TCM industry cannot be separated from the standardized operation.Therefore,the translator is commissioned to translate the current equipment regulations of the company into English,so as to promote the construction of TCM enterprises in Iran and other neighboring countries.This translation practice is an equipment management text,which belongs to scientific and technological text and has the characteristics of “engineering +management” text.After fully understanding the source text,the Adaptation Theory is applied to the translation practice.Cases analysis are carried out to draw out translation methods for equipment management texts from the perspectives of communicative context,discourse structure and pragmatic style.It is found that,in terms of communicative context adaptation,the amplification of specialized words and the omission of categorical words can make the translation accurate and authentic.As for discourse context adaptation,the explicit logic and reorganizing structure can make the translation complete and standardized.With regard to the pragmatic style adaptation,the application of parallel structure and rhetorical functions can make the translation neat and unified in style.The purpose of this report is to explore the applicability and practical value of the Adaptation Theory in the translation of equipment regulations.In this translation practice,cooperation with professionals in the industry plays a crucial role in improving the efficiency of this project.The report is expected to provide some reference for future translators of equipment management texts. |
