| This translation report is based on the English-Chinese translation practice of Chapters 1 and 2 of Advances in Agricultural Machinery and Technologies.The book mainly introduces the development of agricultural mechanization to promote academic exchanges in the field of agricultural machinery.Based on Nida’s theory of information translation and information recombination,the author discusses the difficulties in the translation practice from two aspects: semantic adjustment and structural adjustment.This text is an agricultural sci-tech text which accurately records agricultural science and technology facts.It has a unique style of writing with standardized language,formal tone,and the characteristics of informative text.The author starts with Nida’s theory of information translation and information recombination,and then discusses the translation difficulties based on the specific aspects of semantic adjustment and structural adjustment proposed by Tan Zaixi in a revised edition of Nida on Translation.Semantic adjustment is mainly demonstrated by the adjustment of general and specific semantics,and the redistribution of semantic components;Structural adjustment is manifested in the the adjustment of sentence structure,part of speech and discourse structure.For the difficulties in the translation practice,the author adopts the translation methods of literal translation and free translation,and translation techniques such as addition,conversion,and extension to realize the information reorganization of the source text and reproduce the source language information.Through this translation practice,the author has a deeper understanding of the agricultural sci-tech texts and the translation strategies of information-oriented texts.The author also summarizes some translation methods and suggestions,hoping to provide some guidance for other translators in the future. |
