The English continuation writing task was first proposed by professor Wang Chuming in2012 and it is considered to be an effective method to improve writing ability.The General Senior High School English Curriculum Standards(2017 edition,2020 revision)clearly states that the continuation task can be used as one of the forms to examine students’ writing ability.Currently,the English continuation writing task has been adopted in several provinces and cities across the country in the subject of English in high school.The English continuation task exams reading and writing,language and thinking abilities at the same time,and puts forward higher requirements for teachers’ teaching and students’ learning.Therefore,it is urgent for English teachers to explore more comprehensive teaching methods of English continuation writing teaching.Interactive teaching emphasizes student-centered,and it is conducive to creating a harmonious classroom teaching atmosphere,cultivating students’ thinking ability,and promoting students’ comprehensive application ability.Combining the input and output hypotheses and cooperative learning theory,this study aimed at applying interactive teaching to the practice of English continuation writing task in senior high school,and tried to answer the following three questions:(1)How is the interactive teaching model carried out in the teaching of English continuation task in senior high school?(2)What is the impact of applying interactive teaching model to the teaching of English continuation task in senior high school on students’ attitudes towards it?(3)What is the impact of applying interactive teaching model to the teaching of English continuation task in senior high school on students’ ability to continuation task(content,language,structure)?The author conducted two rounds of action research,which lasted for 3 months.The participants are 48 students from Class 7,Grade 1,in a senior high school in Zhejiang Province.Questionnaires,tests,and interviews were used to collect the data,and quantitative and qualitative analysis on these data were conducted.The results of this study are as follows: First,in the study,through the steps of lead-in,text reading,text analysis,plot design,writing and evaluation,the model of English continuation writing task based on interactive teaching was successfully applied to English writing in senior high school.Second,this model has positive influences on students’ writing attitudes,and students are more interested in English continuation task and are more confident in their writing.Third,this model has optimistic influences on students’ writing ability of English continuation task in the dimensions of content,language and structure,making the content more rational and rich,improving language accuracy and fluency,and making the article structure more reasonable and cohesive.This study has some implications on the teaching of English continuation task in senior high school,but there are also limitations that need to be overcome in the future research.
