The first concerto of the alto saxophone composed by Pierre Max Dubois(March 1,1930 August 29,1995),a French composer,is one of his representative works in the field of saxophone creation.It is also a classic work recognized today for saxophone competitions,concerts and saxophone teaching repertoire,which is a concentrated reflection of his inheritance of neoclassical music style.The teaching of saxophone in China started relatively late,and the theoretical research on its works is less.The author hopes to make analysis and suggestions on the performance techniques involved in the works and how to practice by understanding the composer’s life,the creative background and creative characteristics of the works,and combining with his own performance learning.This paper is divided into three chapters.The first chapter is a brief introduction of the composer’s life,a summary of his creative career and a brief overview of the First Concerto for the alto saxophone;The second chapter is about the performance analysis of the creative characteristics of the first concerto of the alto saxophone;The third chapter is to analyze the difficult points in each movement and propose solutions.
