The Nine Songs of Chu,a famous piece of classical Chinese literature,is based on the description of nature and folk rituals in the Chu region,creating a number of perfectly typical,distinctive and representative characters with a romantic atmosphere.The use of modern design techniques to present the artistic value and unique charm of the Nine Songs,and to design and create a series of characters and their derivatives that are culturally relevant,recognisable,aesthetic and artistic,is conducive to the innovative development of the characters of the Nine Songs and the creative transformation of Chinese traditional culture.In this study,we firstly analyse the link between character design and contemporary creative products in classical literature,sort out the relevant theories,and point out the development trend of character design in classical literature.On this basis,we recognise that modernising the design of characters in classical literature can help to reveal their artistic connotations and unique charm,and we discover the great cultural value and commercial potential of the visualisation of characters in classical literature.Following the literary interpretation of the "Nine Songs of Chu",this study presents an in-depth analysis of the design strategies of the characters involved in the "Nine Songs",taking into account the traditional motifs and the "Nine Songs" of the past generations,and proposes a comprehensive design scheme,design process and expression.In addition,the thesis also presents the creation of character design for the characters in The Nine Songs of Chu,aiming to promote and popularise classical Chinese literature and culture,and to further realise the widespread dissemination of related knowledge through the design and derivation of cultural and creative products,enriching the content and form in the process of Chinese traditional culture export,broadening the fun and diversity of Chinese traditional culture dissemination,and deepening the public’s The project also aims to enrich the content and forms of traditional Chinese culture in the process of export,broaden the fun and diversity of Chinese traditional culture dissemination,and deepen the public’s sense of identity and pride in traditional culture.
