| From 2007 to 2020,the development of medical Chinese has gone through two important development nodes. One of the two important nodes is 2007 and the other is2019-2020.In 2007,the Ministry of Education issued the "Interim Regulations on Quality Control Standards for Medical Undergraduate Education for International Students in China(English-taught)",which stipulates that MBBS majors in China must learn medical Chinese. From 2019 to 2020,China Education Association for International Exchange issued the "Interim Provisions on the Quality Control Standards of Medical Undergraduate Education for International Students in China(Englishtaught)(Trial)";Centre for Chinese and Foreign Language Education and Cooperation at the Ministry of Education,Chinese Testing International Co.,Ltd.and five key medical schools in China jointly launched the Medical Chinese Test(MCT)and the Medical Chinese Test(MCT)syllabus. It is at these two nodes that the old and new editions of the textbook "Medical Chinese-Internship Volume 1" were published as representative textbooks. This paper intends to explore the trend of the development of medical Chinese by comparing the old and new editions of "Medical Chinese-Internship Volume 1",and provide some references for the compilation of medical Chinese textbooks.Based on the theory of needs analysis, this paper compares the 1st and 2nd editions of "Medical Chinese-Internship Volume 1" from four aspects: overall layout, vocabulary, text, and exercise.Combined with the MCT syllabus and interviews with teachers who have used the two editions of the textbook,to analyze the differences between the two editions of textbooks before and after revision. The important contents are summarized as follows: First of all, from a macro perspective, the fine-tuning of the new version of the textbook has provided medical students with an overall understanding of the organization of Chinese hospitals and established a clear context for future study.Second, the new edition of the textbook has added many targeted and instructive study sections, providing clear goals and basis for students’ learning.Third, from the revision of the text title, text content and practice questions,it can be seen that the new version of the textbook pays more attention to the specific context setting of the medical Chinese practice stage, laying a good foundation for future practice work in real hospitals.Fourth, from the revision of the text title, text content, and exercise questions,it can be seen that the new edition of the textbook pays more attention to the improvement of students’ Chinese communicative ability. At the same time,we also summarize some deficiencies and areas that need to be improved after the revision of "Medical Chinese—Practice I",and we also made some suggestions, such as adding example sentences in the arrangement of new words, adding some examples to the writing project, further clarifying the learning goals and difficulties, and improving the matching degree between the teaching materials and the MCT syllabus. It is expected that the analysis results and suggestions in this paper will be useful for the development of medical Chinese textbooks and promote further standardization of medical Chinese textbooks. |
