Problematic social network use is a common psychological phenomenon among college students now.Due to the long-term and high-intensity usage of social networks, the man with this situation uncontrollably invest too much time and energy in social network, resulting in psychological distress and physiological discomfort, which seriously affects their academic and mental health. There are many reasons for this phenomenon, among which the adult attachment status of college students is one of the important factors.Adult attachment is the continuous and long-term emotional connection between an individual and his current peers. The adult attachment status of college students will affect their problematic social network use. This study explored the relationship between adult attachment(includes the dimensions of attachment avoidance and attachment anxiety)and the problematic social network use,and explored the mediating effect of loneliness and Fo MO(Fear of Missing Out)in the relationship between adult attachment and problematic social network use.In this study, the Questionnaire was used to survey college students, including the Experiences in Close Relationship Scale, the Loneliness scale(the University of California at Los Angeles),the Fo MO Scale, and the Problematic Mobile Social Network Usage Scale.Finally,300 returned questionnaires were accepted for analysis. In terms of the data analysis,SPSS 23.0 software was used for descriptive statistics,Harman one-way test, independent sample T-test,one-way ANOVA analysis, correlation analysis, and regression analysis;the SPSS 23.0 plugin macro Process 3.5software was used for the structural equation mediating effect test. The research results were as follows:(1)The attachment anxiety, loneliness,Fo MO and problematic social network use of college students are all in the upper middle level.(2)There were gender differences in the college students’ Fo MO and problematic social network use,and the scores of female college students were higher than those of male college students. There were grade differences in attachment anxiety and Fo MO.The attachment anxiety level of grade 1 students was significantly higher than grade 2students.The Fo MO level of grade 3 students was significantly higher than grade 1students and grade 1 higher than grade 2.The attachment anxiety and attachment avoidance levels of those who were not in love were both higher than those who were in love, and the attachment avoidance level of those who had no love experience was higher than those who had love experience.(3)The results of correlation analysis were, attachment avoidance was positively correlated with loneliness(r=0.327,p<0.001);Attachment avoidance has no obvious correlation(r=-0.020,ns)with problematic social network use and cannot predict it.(4)Attachment anxiety of college students was positively correlated with problematic social network use(r=0.419,p<0.001)and loneliness(r=0.309,p<0.001).Loneliness was positively correlated with problematic social network use(r=0.186,p<0.01),and Fo MO was positively correlated with problematic social network use too(r=0.673,p<0.001).Attachment anxiety, loneliness and Fo MO can all positively predict problematic social network use.(5)Loneliness has a mediating effect in the relationship between attachment anxiety and problematic social network use,and Fo MO has a mediating effect in the relationship between attachment anxiety and problematic social network use as well.Loneliness and Fo MO had no chain mediating effect in the relationship between attachment anxiety and problematic social network use,but there was a parallel mediating effect. The conclusion of this study is: the attachment avoidance dimension of adult attachment can not predict problematic social network use.In contrast, the attachment anxiety can positively predict problematic social network use.In the relationship between attachment anxiety and problematic social network use, loneliness and Fo MO have no chain mediating effect, but parallel mediating effect. |
