A Report On Translation Of Hengshui Inside Painting (Excerpt)

Intangible cultural heritage is the soul of a country and a nation.Inside Painting was one of initial releases of China intangible cultural heritage artifacts.It’s a pocket-sized work of art that combines the essence of Chinese art with cultural significance.Under the Belt and Road process,cultural translation promotes Chinese culture to go global.Hengshui Inside Painting,one of the Hebei Folk Culture Books compiled by Hebei Folklore Museum,explains the historical origins,development process,exceptional painters,and modern development of Hengshui Inside painting in this translation practice report.This report is a C-E translation practical report,providing a detailed description of the entire translation process,including pre-translation,translation difficulties,post-translation proofreading and case studies in the context of theory.In the case study,the author uses Huang Youyi’s “three closeness” principle as a guide,combines it with specific cases,analyses it from the perspective of the principles by using translation techniques such as amplification,omission,conversion,transliteration with annotation,and restructuring to solve the difficulty like culture-loaded words,four-word phrases.This report explores the application of the three closeness principle in translation practice.The author deeply realized that translation is a comprehensive work through this translation practice,which requires the translator to have profound background knowledge,theoretical foundation,bilingual ability,and so on.The author has encountered many translation difficulties in the process of translation,and has conclusion and self-examination,and gained a deeper understanding on foreign translation.The author hopes that this practice report can provide some references for the foreign publicity of this kind of intangible cultural heritage,and make a little contribution to the inheritance and protection of Hengshui inside painting.
