Chang Yao and his poems have achieved various research results.Among them, the“locality” study of Chang Yao’s poetry in academic circles has risen in the mid-1980 s,which resonated with the rise of “western poetry” and the concern of critics for literary locality. However, the “western literature”in the new period and Chang Yao’s identity of“Qinghai poet” and “western poet” is not a priori, but found in the “cross section” of literary history.This“cross-section” gathers the local resources and the elements of the poet’s creation. The poetry of Chang Yao is the result of interaction between literature and geography, and also the form of the relationship between man and area in the perspective of Literary Geography. This paper analyzes Chang Yao and his poetry from object space, subject space and literary space. This three spaces influence each other, and there are also overlaps. The first chapter mainly analyzes the interactive relationship between the realistic geographical environment and Chang Yao’s creation, including the influence of geographical environment and geographical perception on his choice and creative psychology, the poet’s active response to these influences, such as presenting perceivable places by writing poetry.Tracing back to the place of birth and growth from the literary expression,we can know that the location of Chang Yao’s ancestral home has more prominent cultural attributes than his birthplace. In particular, there are similarities between the history and culture of Taoyuan,Hunan province and Qinghai, such as the collective psychology of striving. The family education and the behavior of family members in this cultural atmosphere also influenced his choice of life and the poetry’s theme, style and also concept of “Moral Poetry”.However, the individual consciousness in Changyao’s creation is stronger than the collective consciousness, which originates from the mutual influence between individual character and people. Therefore, there is coincidence and dislocation between the poet’s ancestral home and the place where his works are expressed in local cultural psychology. The discovery and express the sense of “surprise” and “desolation” “solemn” in Qinghai poetry originated from the creative reaction, which coincides with the geographical perception put forward by the French scholar Bertrand Westphal and Danish scholar S·P·Moslund’s concern about how languages and places show the materiality of places. This synesthesia technique, which combines vision, feeling, hearing and smell, strengthens the texture of language and the region character of Qinghai poetry. In addition, geographical memory is the creative thinking based on local perception and local experience.Wherein, the local experience combines what the poet calls “pain” with the sense of belonging at there. His autobiographical and long poems are the isomorphism of local experience and creation, narrate the secret experience and experience in the lonely mountain village.Wherein,Qinghai dialects are used in the poetry is a way for the poet to highlight local consciousness. The chapter two analyzes the aesthetic features and symbolic meaning of plateau landscape, nomadic landscape, urban landscape and group portraits in Chang Yao’s poems with the help of the theory of literary landscape. The more important is to analyzes the poet’s viewing method from the “view” in the literary landscape, and study the change of his attitude towards the place from strangeness to familiarity, then to assimilate and self-expression,to enhance his cultural identity. In his poems of modern urban landscape,he also hides his emotional pursuit of Qinghai Plateau and nomadic land.Space in the perspective of literary geography is an abstract collection of literature based on the natural landscape and humanistic environment of a specific place, integrating the author’s local experience, original creative passion and imagination, etc. The chapter three lays emphasis on the concrete analysis of Chang Yao’s construction of literary space-“Qinghai” and “the west”,as well as its narrative, fiction, spirit and Hyper-regionalism.“Qinghai” in the author’s memory is the isomorphic creation of the place’s experience and write, which have narrative features. Therefore, the local experience combines what the poet presents “pain” with the sense of belonging acquired there. His autobiographical long poems are the isomorphism of local experience and creation, narrating the fantastic experience in the lonely mountain village. In section two,the art of “the west” interlacing time and space with fictionality is analyzed. The series of poems “The Shape of Qinghai-Tibet Plateau” are abstract collections of the poet’s time and space consciousness, emphasizing on the sense of history, the universe and the wide poetic realm,as well as the meaning of life and humanistic spirit of literary “the west”.The third section discusses the characteristics of “ultimate spac”.It is the creative transformation of western poetry. The metaphorical makes the western scenery become the symbol of the inner psychological crisis, and breaks the spatial grammar of the poem to follow the inner disorder,or elongates the sound of the poem to express the“modern” emotion,or strengthens the sense of language through the impulse of language, and arrives at the existence. The absence of geographical elements in literary space is the “modern” feature of poetry. The “Ultimate space” is the definition of“spiritual origin” in the study of the Literary Geography. The fourth section analyzes how the poet creatively transforms the spirit of “the west”,which has super regional characters.
