The Pre-Qin Confucian thought of moral self-discipline,which originated in the special background of the times,not only contains rich moral thought and enlightenment thought,but also contains profound humanistic implication and rational thinking,which has certain enlightenment and reference value for solving the problem of the current low effectiveness of moral education in Colleges and universities.This paper is divided into four parts:The introduction gives a brief synopsis to the background and significance of the topic,the present situation of the research at home and overseas,research thinking and research methods,as well as the possible innovation points and deficiencies of this topic.The first chapter states the formation conditions of The Pre-Qin Confucian thought of moral self-discipline from three aspects of the sense of hardship,cultural tradition and social reality.Pre-Qin Confucianism inherited the worry gene that has been flowing in the blood of the Chinese nation since the birth of the primitive people,unifying survival and political worries into moral worries,and then followed the predecessor’s moral education thoughts of emphasizing moral heteronomy.In the special era of the Warring States period,“the world has no way”.Pre-Qin Confucianism developed it into the self-discipline of moral thinking.The second chapter discusses the basic content of The Pre-Qin Confucian thought of moral self-discipline from four aspects: the concept of moral self-discipline,self-discipline objectives,self-discipline methods and ideological characteristics.The Pre-Qin Confucian self-discipline of moral is a self-regulation based on the principle of “benevolence” and“propriety”,which aims to achieve the ideal personality goal of gentleman,sage and saint king.Therefore,the Pre-Qin Confucians summed up the four steps of moral self-discipline:determined to be benevolent,subdue ourselves and return to propriety,introspection and cautiousness,practice.According to this,the characteristics of The Pre-Qin Confucian thought of moral self-discipline can be summarized as: emphasis on benevolence and rate,unity of knowledge and action,and integration of morality and governance.The third chapter mainly explains the contemporary enlightenment of The Pre-Qin Confucian thought of moral self-discipline.The first is to develop aspiration education to arouse the moral subjectivity of college students;the second is to formulate school rules and regulations which can exploit the educational guidance of moral norms to the full;the third is to organize introspective education to heighten college students’ moral consciousness;the fourth is to implement the practical education,which can improve the moral action of college students and make the moral self-discipline a true reality.
