Artistic Characteristics And Development Of Huizhou Woodblock New Year Pictures

Woodblock New Year pictures are an outstanding example of traditional culture of our country.It is among the most important intangible cultural heritages of the Chinese nation.Its unique artistic charm has attracted many experts and scholars who are interested in the art of traditional Chinese woodblock New Year pictures and who have continued to inherit its admirable artistic language.Huizhou woodblock New Year pictures are part and parcel of the tradition of Chinese woodblock New Year pictures with their own unique personality and language.At the same time,they reflect the thoughts and emotions of the working class in Huizhou and their aesthetic tastes,as well as their pursuits of different aesthetic values.This dissertation aims to explore the aesthetic characteristics of Huizhou woodblock New Year pictures and their inheritance and development so as to promote the charm of the artistic language and humanistic values of Chinese woodblock New Year pictures,and to contribute to the theoretical basis of the scholarship on Chinese cultural treasures.Currently there is ample research on Huizhou architecture,Huizhou prints,and the three masterpieces of Huizhou carving.However,there continue to be many deficiencies in the inheritance,innovation and theoretical research of Huizhou woodblock New Year pictures.Specifically,there is few in-depth theoretical research work that focusses on the artistic characteristics and development of Huizhou woodblock New Year pictures.The point of departure of this dissertation is the history of development of Huizhou woodblock New Year pictures.It analyzes their historical background and the process of development,explores their artistic characteristics,and expresses their aesthetic values from the aspects of subject classification,the use of lines,shapes,and colors and production technology.Secondly,the dissertation expounds the importance of research on the development of Huizhou woodblock New Year pictures from the perspectives of developmental status,inheritance and protection,innovation etc.Through the above investigation,it further points out the special significance and historical aesthetic value of Huizhou woodblock New Year pictures in the context of Huizhou traditional folk life.Studying the development of Huizhou woodblock New Year pictures not only benefits the examination of the relationship between the development of Huizhou folk art and the history of social and cultural development,but also promotes interactions of Huizhou regional civilization and world folk art.Additionally,the study will play a decisive role in the inheritance of intangible cultural heritage of Huizhou woodblock New Year pictures and the dissemination of Huizhou folk customs.I hope that through some studies on the historical development,artistic characteristics and innovative development of Huizhou woodblock New Year pictures,I will continue to cultivate the diversified and innovative development methods of Huizhou woodblock New Year pictures,and form an awareness of protecting the intangible cultural heritage of Huizhou woodblock New Year pictures and other important woodblock New Year pictures.Self-confidence in national culture has brought new life to traditional Chinese culture.
