Symbolic And Seduction:Baudrillard’s Object Strategies

The purpose of this thesis is to discuss the possibility of Baudrillard’s reflection on the dilemma of the subject in modern society and the possibility of reconstructing the relationship between subject and object by adopting the object strategies.Baudrillard asserts that modern society is the era of the object,and the human subject lives with the rhythm of the object,and in the process of the object constantly approaching perfection,he sees the demise of the human subject itself.In this era,object is no longer a commodity with use value,or an object arbitrarily set and transformed by the subject,but has formed a system of multiple meanings to control and dominate the subject,and the object has gained hegemony over the subject.Start taking revenge on it.Where will the subject’s fate be?Is it possible to reconstruct the subject-object relationship?These complex issues are the core of Baudrillard’s object strategies thinking.Baudrillard regards those solutions proposed from the perspective of the subject as mediocre strategies,because,in the era when the object gains dominance,the authority,power,and superiority of the subject have been reduced to illusions.Once these former glory are put aside,the subject is nothing more than a sad wreck,no longer able to control and represent the world.Then,starting from the standpoint of the object might not be a creative solution,which is the original intention of Baudrillard’s object strategies.The reason why the object strategies is fatal,on the one hand,is that the object is far more cunning and ironic than the subject in the strategic operation;The inherent logic of inevitability is that the subject must endure the domination and domination of the object before the fate of the subject can be redeemed.What the operating logic of object strategy expects is the arrival of a vanishing point.Only when it reaches the final vanishing point can the fate of the subject and the relationship between subject and object be available—symbolic exchange and seduction.In the world of symbolic exchange,object and subject are in the same position,and there is no longer a dichotomy,domination and dominated relationship.In the game mode of seduction,object and subject blend with each other,reversible and reciprocal.This thesis thinks that Baudrillard has made a profound reflection on the redemption of the dilemma of the subject in modern society,and proposed a solution with certain value,which also provides effective inspiration for thinking about therelationship between subject and object in modern society.At the same time,this thesis argues that although Baudrillard proposes a theoretical path to reach the realm of symbolic exchange,from the perspective of the current real development,the historical distance between the vanishing point and the symbolic world is still a long way off.Nevertheless,this does not hinder the enlightenment value of Baudrillard’s profound thoughts on the future destiny of mankind.
