Dissemination And Acceptance Of Yu Hua’s Novels Overseas From A Cross-cultural Perspective

The dissemination of contemporary Chinese literature overseas has been unsatisfactory.This situation is certainly related to the political,economic and cultural advantages of European countries represented by the United States,Britain,France and Germany,but it also has a great relationship with Western readers’ aesthetic preferences and cultural traditions.As a novel Brothers that has caused great controversy in China,it can be appreciated by readers and media in the West.Does this mean that Chinese modern and contemporary literature differs from the West in terms of theme,culture and other aesthetic preferences,resulting in Overseas spread is limited.Therefore,this article compares the differences in literary aesthetics between China and the West through Brothers,and strives to derive the aesthetic tendencies of Western readers from a cross-cultural perspective,and draws on the experience of modern and contemporary Chinese literature spreading to the West.This thesis takes Yu Hua’s novels,especially Brothers as the analysis object,from the content theme,language skills,literary tradition,translation and publishing to discuss why Brothers is not popular in China,but popular abroad,comprehensively collecting the evaluations of Brothers by reviewers and readers on media and magazines in western countries and book reviews sites with high public acceptance,and comparing and categorizing their opinions with the evaluation of Chinese readers,and obtaining positive results it is China’s astonishing speed of political and economic development has made Western readers more and more want to understand the real China,which has a higher acceptance of literary works that describe Chinese reality.in terms of language description,due to the difference in expression between Chinese and Western languages,it is simple,smooth,plain and natural Language is more attractive to Western readers than language full of literature and historical allusions and magnificent rhetoric.In addition,the tragic literary tradition makes them more inclined to use a life of misery and bitter satire rather than force a happy reunion gives readers reflection and alertness.Finally,cooperation between Chinese and foreign translators and high-quality translations and publishing houses the choice of Chinese literature to the world also played an indelible contribution.Contemporary Chinese literature needs to increase the proportion of translations of Chinese realistic works,and combine Western tragic theories for the purpose of criticism and reflection with the literary tradition of truth based on insight into spiritual power.By cooperating with overseas sinologists to improve the quality of translation and introduction,and cultivate the operational capabilities of overseas publishing companies,in the event of the decline of paper media,comprehensively mobilize online media and social APP to export Chinese literature through multiple channels.
