With the development of global, regional cooperation and integration, the cooperation and exchanges between China and various regions have also continued to deepen. As the origin country of the Silk Road,China not only promoted the development of the global economy and politics, but also played an important role in the integration of global culture and religion. As a comprehensive English book The Silk Road in World History, the translator selects the second chapter to the fourth chapter, the development process of Kushan Dynasty and Sassanian Dynasty on the Silk Road,as well as the development process of Buddhism in the same period,as the translation materials. The report consists of five parts:introduction, description of the translation process, translation theory, case study and practice summary. The first chapter briefly introduces the background, significance and task of translation. The second chapter is the description of the translation process, including the preparation before translation, the analysis of text types, the reading of parallel texts and the use of translation tools. The third chapter is an overview of semantic translation and communicative translation, briefly introduces the theory used in translation and analyzes its applicability to the material.Chapter four discusses the difficulties and solutions in the process of translation. This chapter is the focus of this translation practice report. The difficulties of translation include vocabulary, long sentences and Buddhist Sutra. The difficulty of vocabulary is mainly related to proper nouns and culture loaded words in the context of religion, history and culture. The difficulties of long sentences are mainly parallelism sentences and Sutra is also one of the main difficulties in translation.Under the guidance of Newmark’s communicative translation and semantic translation theory, the translator adopts such translation methods as annotation, addition, back translation and word order conversion to solve these difficulties. The fifth chapter is the summary of the whole report.
